My name is Greg Smithey, and I am that guy who created the original "BUNS OF STEEL" workout.
With years of experience in sports and coaching, I am a former high school and college track coach and professional pole vaulter.
My passion lies in pushing physical boundaries and motivating others to achieve their fitness objectives.
I hold a B.A. in Physical Education, an M.Ed in Education, and I am also a certified fitness instructor.
The idea of BUNS OF STEEL traces back to 1987 in Anchorage, Alaska, at the Hip Hop Aerobics Club.
One particularly frigid, way below zero day, I got this odd, but as it turned out, it's an awesome idea.
Rather than traditional aerobics routines, which was what everybody was doing in those days, I decided to create a workout focused on toning and strengthening the lower body, specifically targeting the glutes, thighs, and hips.
Now, add some great sound from the large overhead speakers. You know it makes working out easier when you’re moving to the rhythm of some great hip hop music.
Down to the floor we went...
feasting on a menu of lower leg, hip. thigh and bun exercises... delightfully prepared and enthusiastically served.
I went to work encouraging and motivating everyone through each of the 40 to 50 separate exercises that I designed to tone the lower legs, thighs, hips, and buns into submission.
The next week, I was overwhelmed with excitement when some of my students shouted, “Wow, my buns feel like they're made OF STEEL!”
... And just like that, those three little words were born!
People started telling everyone, “I'VE GOT BUNS OF STEEL!”
This led me to create the very first "ORIGINAL BUNS OF STEEL" video, sparking a phenomenon that sold over a million copies in a very short time.
Everybody was talking about BUNS OF STEEL !

But in all sincerity, the results truly speak for themselves: a strengthened, toned lower body that enhances both physical appearance and self-esteem.
